Defend freedom of political speech…defend Glenn Beck
From Redstate.com…Thanks to Erick Erickson for the story.
Apparently the Obama administration is so ideologically threatened by Glenn Beck, and the Americans that listen to his show, that Obama green jobs Czar Van Jones (who is tied to an organization) who has has hired a Hollywood PR firm to pressure Glenn’s advertisers to quit advertising on the show, and threaten a boycott of the companies that do not comply.
Please visit Redstate’s link to find out more. Plesae call those those advertisers and tell them we support Glenn Beck and we will boycott them if they fold under pressure by the Obama followers.
“Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” should be required viewing for all those interested in politics
My husband and I spent a quiet Sunday at home, grilling outside, and watching movies together as a family helping our son choose a new Starwars backpack and lunchbox for preschool, and our daughter gets ready to start back to school in the morning.
We decided to watch Mr. Smith goes to Washington, one of our favorite old movies of all time. The movie was made in 1939, and stars James Stewart as Jefferson Smith, a young and unassuming man who was handpicked by a puppet Governor to fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat, because of his innocence and lack of “institutional knowledge.” Smith was the leader of the Boy Rangers in his state.
The big money “boss” who calls all the political shots in the state is Jim Taylor, the movie’s villian. Taylor wants to build a dam on land promised to the Boy Rangers for a camp. Taylor has a major financial stake in the dam being built and when Smith finds out, he promises to expose Taylor’s corruption and the corruption of the major politicians in his state who are taking all their orders from Taylor, including his fellow Senator Joe Paine. After attempting to tell the truth about what is going on in his state’s politics, Taylor runs a smear campaign against Smith, accusing him of stealing from the boy rangers and tries to get him expelled from the Senate.
With the help of his legislative assistant (who is also in love with him,) Smith attempts a 2 day fillibuster to keep the Senate from expelling him and passing the corrupt legislation. During that time the press goes crazy for the story and his story is told nationwide, but in his own state the papers and radio airwaves are owned and controlled by Taylor, and are filled with lies and smears against Smith, so there is no way for the truth to be told at home, so the public is mislead.
When the Boy Rangers recieve a call telling them what is going on in Washington, they go to print on their own small printing press and attempt to hand deliever the truth, carrying the papers on bicycles and in wagons. Taylor’s henchmen steal the boy’s papers, hit the children, and even run into them with cars.
After the other Senator (Joe Paine) from Smith’s state (who has been taking orders from Taylor for over 20 years,) brings Smith telegrams from citizens who were lied to via a Taylor-controlled media, he gives an impassioned speech, but exhausted from 2 days of speaking, he passes out.
Senator Paine feels remorse and attempts suicide, but is saved from his own gunshots. He runs into the Senate Chamber, admits the truth and all is saved for Jefferson Smith…a truly great movie, and quite controversial at the time, for its attempt to take on the political establishment.
I thought during the movie and afterward that not much has changed since 1939. Many politicians are owned and controlled by the modern day Jim Taylor’s of the world, who call the shots and have bills passed for their own financial gain.
Today, like in 1939, good and honest people’s reputations are smeared and families ruined by lies spread by polticial machines like that of Jim Taylor.
And like then, in 2009 much of America’s media is controlled by machines like Taylor’s who fear the public, if the truth actually gets out. They manipulate the public through biased coverage and shape elections for their desired outcome.
So who are we the people? Well, I see us as being like the Boy Rangers. We have seen and recognized what is really going on, and we have called for a stop to it. We have used all our personal might. We hold Tea Parties, we protest the fleecing of America through tax hikes and out of control stimulis spending. We protest tyranny and the current administration’s creep toward socialism, by attempting to control our healthcare system. We organize, we use alternative forms of media (like the Boy Rangers used their own small press,) we use the internet, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. How else will the truth ever be told?
Still, we continue to be bullied by the machine. We are called a “mob” for showing-up to town hall’s to ask real questions and tell the truth about Obamacare and his medical policy advisor, Ezekiel Emmanuel, who favors implementing a system that caters to the young and healthy and rations care to the sick and elderly (the one’s who need it most.) We are attacked by reporters for protesting stimulis spending. They continually refer to opinions held by the majority of Americans, as “fringe”. Yet, still we will not give up.
As I look around at those who are now standing up to fight, I see no particular age, status, sex, color, or ethnic origin. I see a sea of Americans who have said “Enough is enough!” Doctors, attorneys, teachers, factory workers, motorcyclists, athletes, children, and the elderly are standing together for the America our father’s gave their lives for, and my faith in the will of a free American people is renewed.

Welcome to my new Blog
Thank you for visiting my new blog, juliannethompson.com. Of course, this is a place where I express my opinions, and keep readers current on recent news and events that impact our lives as Americans. But I also want it to be a place that you can visit to find information on various organizations that promote fiscal and personal responsibility and preserving the American dream for future generations.
I will also be featuring posts from guest bloggers, and adding a web radio program. Please visit the “Meet our writers” category to find out more about myself, and the people that contributed to this site early on.
***As you can see by my old posts, I had a website in 2008 called “Conservative Woman,“ an online magazine. The format was set, and I was unable to make changes myself, so nothing was done with the site since December, 2008. Recently, I had the site changed over to a blog format.
Now What?
We are now 2 weeks into a new era in American politics. Where will Barack Obama lead this country after January 20th? Will he even lead at all? After all, he talks a great talk, but he has no real accomplishments to point to. Never has America been in a situation like this…into the great and frightening unknown, during the most challenging economic crisis, security crisis, and moral crisis of our time.
It was obvious to most of us watching on election night. When the votes were counted, and the winner named, Barack Obama did not seem delighted or relieved at the accomplishement he had achieved as he walked out on that stage in Chicago to greet his supporters. The reality of winning the Presidency had hit him hard, and it showed. The weight of the free world now rests on his shoulders.
As for me, I felt sick. I and countless others had been wrking hard to elect McCain-Palin, but it didn’t happen. The election was over and Obama has scored a decisive victory.
So now what is my duty as a citizen? As a woman of faith? I am to pray for our leaders, and not just those I voted for, but especially for those I voted against. But how and what do I pray for? After all, Barack Obama’s policies are the antithesis of everything I believe both politically and personally.
I pray fo God to guide him in making the right decisions. I pray for his safety, and the safety of his family. I pray for the sovereignty and safety of Israel, our only democratic ally in the middle east… and that our relationship with Israel will not be comprimised. I pray for America…for our families, our children, our future.
Now it is time we rebuild our Party. It is time we rebuild our country. And we work to restore the values that have made America a blessed and great nation.

Special Feature:
AT HOME WITH FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR AND RADIO TALK SHOW HOST
MARTHA ZOLLER – by Julianne Thompson
I was recently talking with a group of friends about women pundits in the media. Some are soft spoken, and we wish they would speak-up. Some come across as harsh, and we wish they’d be more diplomatic. But, when we talked about Martha Zoller, we were all in agreement… she tells the truth…no holds barred. But, just as we admire her for her straightforward approach, we also see her as a colleague…real. The kind of lady we could listen to with pride on television, and then feel comfortable going to having coffee with her after the show. We all liked Martha Zoller, and as a result of that conversation, I really wanted to interview Martha and feature her in Conservative Woman.
People have seen Martha Zoller on The Georgia Gang, on CNN and regularly on the Fox News Channel. They hear her on her radio show on WDUN in Gainesville, Georgia (metro-Atlanta) daily at 10 AM. When you go to charitable and political events, she is often there, lending her voice to the cause.
A columnist for Human Events, she released her first book in 2005, Indivisible: Uniting Values in a Divided America. The same year she completed the Department of Defense’s oldest civilian training program, JCOC. Martha visited with members of all the branches of the service, and was briefed by Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Richard Myers.
However busy her public life seems to be, it is apparent that she is first and foremost a dedicated wife and mother of four. That seems to be her center. So for the rest of us who look at these incredibly busy women and wonder how they seem to do it all, I asked her “how do you balance a family with such a busy career?” “It’s all about priorities,” she said. Zoller states she believes there is no glass ceiling and that women can have it all, just not at the same time. “I stayed home full time until my youngest child was in school, then I worked very part time until I had children driving. I’ve always been there when the bus came home and I work for a company that understands family” she said.
She cites her biggest accomplishment is being a successful mother. “There is nothing that matches the feeling you get with that. My children are getting old enough now that they are starting to appreciate what their Dad and I have done for them,” she said.
“I married a man with 3 children, so I became an instant mother. Then we had our daughter in 1991. Chip is the oldest–he’s 26 and living in Baton Rouge attending LSU and completing his PhD in music. Mark is 24 and just graduated from Georgia Tech. He is working for Jackson EMC and lives in Athens, Georgia. Ricky is 22 and is graduating from UGA in December with a microbiology major, and is waiting to hear if he got into medical school. Suzanne is 16 and will be 17 in December. She is an Honor student at North Hall High School and loves drama. She just completed a lead role in “Heart’s Desire” and will be in “Godspell” in November. Lin is an internist in Gainesville/Hall County with a private practice and is also the “Jail Doc” for Hall, Clark, Stephens, Gilmer and White County. He’s a renaissance man who can fix cars, build furniture, tile a bathroom and play a good round of golf. We live in North Hall County and have 4 dogs,” she states proudly.
The questions change to the subject of politics. It is obvious the Republican brand has suffered some image problems over the past few years. “What does the GOP need to do to improve its image,” I asked? “First of all,” she said, “their walk has to match their talk. Republicans were born to cut taxes and make government smaller. And they did cut taxes, but they presided over the largest expansion of government in history. Either we believe what we say or we don’t. And I believe that conservatism wins when practiced with apology every time.”
Zoller’s mostly conservative listeners are overwhelmingly opposed to the economic bailout. “I am opposed to it, also,”she said. I think that like many of the New Deal programs which actually prolonged The Great Depression, this bailout will have consequences long after the economy turns around.”
So would she ever consider a run for office? “I have thought about it for many years, but I won’t make any decision until my daughter gets out of high school.” She added that she believes it is essential that conservative women run for office. “For too long, we have let liberal women in public life define us and our agendas.”
So what does she like to do in her spare time? She says, “Maybe I’ll have some after November 4! I love to read, sing, watch old movies and visit with friends. I slip down to visit my sister and mother in Decatur whenever I can and get to the beach as often as I can.”
Martha Zoller is a family-focused, conservative female leader in a very liberal industry. She seems to have it all, but has never lost sight of what is important. That is what keeps her grounded. That is what makes her real. And that is why we like her.
We are Joe the Plumber
We are Joe the Plumber
by Kathy Stahlman Hildebrand
OK, I admit it. I’m frustrated. Well, aren’t you? Do you work? Do you pay taxes? Do you try to live within your means? Did you buy a house you could afford? Well, then you ought to be frustrated.
If you know the difference between a tax cut and a welfare check, then you ought to be a bit offended… and seriously frustrated.
The evening news anchor is glibly reporting the “history” of what brought us to this point — obviously packed full of provably ludicrous lies, economic absurdities and unconstitutional “solutions” — while Stepford America just nods in passive agreement. Sometimes I feel like there’s this massive reserve of truth bubbling up inside of me that’s screaming out, “Drill here! Drill now!” But the know-all media will have no such truth bubbling to the surface… not on their watch.
And if you’re a Republican who thought you had a voice out there – because surely your Republican president or your Republican presidential candidate or your Republican senators would come to the rescue… and no, I don’t mean a rescue “package“… then you’re with me. You just knew they’d come in and clearly articulate HOW we got into this mess, WHO was responsible, and then champion the House Republican free-market solution and all would eventually be well within the realm of capitalism once again. Well, like I said, I’m really frustrated.
What to do.
Then in walks Joe the Plumber — an unlikely hero to the rescue. Amid the foggy mists of confusion, a voice of clarity. Into the foul and moldy cesspools of deceit, a breath of fresh air. I’m serious. If you are as frustrated as I was, you need to just stop and breathe in the symbolic simplicity of Joe the Plumber. He’s the American working class. No, scratch that. In America, working folks aren’t in a “class.” They just work, and they dream, and they work some more. And there’s nobody — nobody — who can dictate them to be in, nor confine them to stay in, this “class” or that “class.” So who is he really? A small business owner? An employee who dreams of being a small business owner? Either way, he approaches Senator Barack Obama with a simple question. “Why do you want to hike my taxes and destroy my American dream?” Obama’s answer: “I think it’s good to spread the wealth around.” Follow-up question: “Whose wealth?” Follow-up answer: “Your wealth.”
The simple truth is that liberals love playing Santa Claus with your money. Every day is Christmas. They buy lots of presents and give them to voters in return for votes. Since you’re footing the bill (and not getting any presents), you may choose not to be one of these voters. But not to worry. There are more folks getting presents than giving them, so the election, as they think, is “in the bag.”
Well, anyway the truth was out there. Finally. I had a voice. a little less frustration. But still… what to DO.
Turns out that other folks were happy to have a voice too. Joe the Plumber was catching on… showing up all over the place… speaking for us. Then a friend sent me an email about having a “Joe the Plumber” press conference. Get some small business owners together to speak up with Joe. To say, ”We’d just as soon keep the fruits of our labor. Or spread it around ourselves. Maybe hire a few people, create a few jobs.” “So…” my friend says, “What do you say we try it? Let’s have a press conference.” “Us?” I said. I thought for maybe two seconds. “I’m in.” I had found my voice. True leadership can be found in the strangest places.
This was Friday night. We planned the press conference for Tuesday morning. Lots of calls. “Just tell me your story. How would the Obama tax plan affect your business?“ Notice I said “tax plan” — not “tax cut” or “tax hike” because you see, it’s both. It just depends on whether or not you actually pay taxes. If you don’t, they get cut. If you do, you get to pay more.
…Wait, that’s not exactly true. If you make under $250,000, you don’t have to pay more, at least not directly. This is why Obama actually commented later, “I have no quarrel with Joe the Plumber; I just want to cut his taxes.” (read “buy his vote.”)
You see, Senator Obama doesn’t understand Joe. He didn’t understand J.F.K. either. Remember, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.” Joe doesn’t want his country to “do” for him. It’s not that he wouldn’t like to keep a little more of his own money; he just doesn’t think he should take it from his friend George. Joe would like his “tax cuts” to result from government tightening its belt, not from his neighbor emptying his wallet. You see, Joe understands that the government doesn’t actually have any money. At any rate, Senator Obama finally met someone who couldn’t be bought, on either side of the $250,000 threshold.
The press conference went off beautifully. We met at Chaplin’s Cafe in Roswell, GA at 10:30 a.m. with about 8 small business owners who told their stories and a room full of supporters. It was covered by two TV stations and the AJC. I started by telling these folks that at least some of us in America still appreciated them and were still rooting for them. That they had taken the risk, worked those long hours, no doubt had spent some sleepless nights, and had sacrificed along the way to make it happen! “You’re the backbone of this state and of this country, and we salute you.”
“And it’s YOU who have employed America. It’s small business that creates the jobs across this nation, that both undergirds and expands the American economy, and we want to give each of you a hand for your contribution day in and day out. We know it’s not easy, and that’s why we’re here today. Because there are some folks who’d like to make it a lot harder than it already is for you. At a time when small business is struggling, there are some who would like to RAISE your taxes… or if not yours, then your suppliers’, your clients’, your customers’, or on those who manufacture your raw materials. So today we ask you one question: What will that do to YOUR small business?”One by one, they told us. They had all found their voices. A heartfelt thanks to each of them. And thank you, Joe… We just needed a breath of fresh air.

Some Joe-the-Plumber “VOICES” from Georgia:
We don’t earn $250,000… and why would we want to … if our earnings are going to be ‘shared’ with those who haven’t earned it? We would rather share our wealth with our own employees who have helped earn it. Most of the developers and general contractors that we do work for DO earn more than $250,000.00. If this wealth-redistribution policy were to be put into effect, the incentive for these developers to take the risk would be gone… which would mean that we would have to lay off employees, we would not be able to make the payments on our equipment, and we could possibly go out of business ourselves, directly impacting at least 10 families.
–Barry Schmidt, Barry S. Schmidt Inc. (Water/Sewer/Utility Construction)
I was born of modest means, and I know what it is like to work, scrimp, and save for every dime I have. What God has blessed me with, I will help others, but I will do it of my own free will, and not as a result of a socialistic system, disguised as (quote) “tax relief for the middle class.” There is NO relief for the middle class in Barack Obama’s plan, because once he allows the Bush tax cuts to expire, EVERYONE’S taxes will be raised, including the modest salaries of grocers like my dad, and teacher’s like my mom.
–Jason Thompson, Thompson Law Firm, PC
Our tax system already punishes the most productive members of our society. Why do we need a plan to punish them more, especially with the current state of our economy? Let’s keep the Bush tax cuts. Let’s call for more tax cuts. Let’s reward the hard-working citizens of this country by giving them a good reason to keep working hard to make their dreams come true. How? By letting them keep the majority of their hard-earned money! The result? The economy will soon right itself and thrive again.
–Karen Hutto, In-House Productions (Professional Writer)
It’s tough enough supporting my own family, let alone to make enough money to support someone else’s family. I believe very strongly that Americans helping Americans is one aspect that makes our country great, and we have charitable organizations to do that. I willingly give to the charities of my choice – but I do not want to unwillingly give my hard-earned money to the government so they can redistribute the wealth.
–Timothy Barr, Patriot Construction
My concerns about Senator Obama as our next President are many, but as a small business owner with employees who need jobs, I am primarily concerned with his plan of raising corporate taxes, his health care program and his wealth redistribution. With the present economy I am doing everything I can to keep our doors open, to maintain stability with personnel and meet all of my monthly rent and payroll overhead and obligations.
–Lisa Macy, Real Estate – Coldwell Banker Franchise
When starting our business 3 years ago it was our “American Dream” coming to life, a dream that my wife and I have talked about and worked towards for the past 20 years. We have successfully grown our business from one location to now two locations in three years, but an Obama tax plan will change our present focus for growth. It will cause us to monitor and stifle any growth that would exceed the $250,000.00 mark. The incentive to work hard for reward would be changed. This plan takes our hard-earned money and distributes it to people who do not pay taxes or do not work to improve their financial means. Why would we focus on growth of our business? Instead, it would be easier to reduce what we are doing now to stay below the radar. It may mean closing one of the restaurant locations, thus, cutting jobs. Ultimately, the Obama tax plan punishes hard work.
– Randall & Judy Eagleson: Eagle’s Landing Restaurants
In our company, when it takes 12 to 16-hour days to meet production deadlines for a customer, those long work hours are only “spread around” among our company employees. In lean times the lean payroll checks are “spread around” only among our employees. Therefore, I believe, unlike Obama and his answer to Joe the Plumber, that when our hard work pays dividends, they should only be “spread around” to our employees that made them possible.
– Paden & Michelle Kersey, Label Graphics, Inc.
In 1986, having optimism about the American Dream, I started my accounting practice. I knew I was free to succeed. And I was also free to fail. But I was making those choices and receiving the consequences both good and bad. I am still an average guy and can hold my head high that I made the choices which brought me here. I don’t want our government to determine how to “spread my wealth.” I, in return, do not ask my government to guarantee my loans, office leases and credit accounts, or to honor the promises I make to my employees and clients. And I do not want to spend one sleepless night worrying about the consequences of my government’s choices.

Propaganda and Palin
Propaganda and Palin
Media Hypocrisy in the 2008 Presidential Election – by Julianne Thompson
On August 29, 2008, Sarah Palin entered the national political scene. When John McCain announced his choice for Vice President of the United States, an electric surge went through the conservative base of the Republican Party. Governor Palin was a breath of fresh air. She spoke at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, and ignited a flame in the GOP that had not burned for many years. She was a straight talker, confident in her views. As such, she has attracted both praise and criticism to the MCain Presidential ticket. Was she ready after only serving 2 years as Governor? After all, she would be one heartbeat away from the Presidency.
Both liberal and conservative feminists have longed for a female on the presidential ticket, yet when McCain made history by choosing Sarah Palin to be his running mate – the first female Republican Vice Presidential candidate in history – the mainstream American media sent an army of journalists to Alaska. Their mission was to discredit Governor Palin. They gave us scandals, both political and personal.
They targeted Palin’s daughter, who became pregnant out of wedlock. Liberals said it was proof positive she needed to be at home raising her kids, something they never said to Hillary Clinton or Nancy Pelosi. Americans were angry with the attack, as it hit home for many families, so the media searched for the next “scandal.” We found out the state paid for Palin’s children to travel with their mother on some business trips. In the same week, we saw her attacked for both not being with the kids enough, and for taking the kids with her! This criticism is coming from people who believe in tax payer subsidized, state funded daycare for working women, just not conservative women. We are now being inundated with stories about the expensive wardrobe the GOP supplied her on the campaign trail. That wardrobe doesn’t even belong to the Governor, and will be donated to charity after the campaign. Yet, it continues to headline the news. What about President Clinton’s holding up air traffic in Los Angeles to receive an expensive haircut on Air Force One? What about the nearly $100,000 Nancy Pelosi redirected from her PAC to pay her husband’s firm? Where was the outrage for those stories? Could the elitist media be anymore hypocritical? Unfortunately, yes.
When news outlets reported that Hillary Clinton appeared on the floor of the Senate showing a little cleavage, liberal feminists cried foul and the story quickly died. I don’t believe Senator Clinton had any intention of drawing attention to her cleavage, so I too was upset about the jokes and that she was being targeted in a sexist manner. However, when Sarah Palin spoke to a crowd of supporters in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Reuters took a close-up photograph of her legs, with young male supporters looking up at her in the background. The motive behind that photo was blatantly obvious, yet there was no outcry from liberal feminists for Sarah Palin. The mainstream media continues trying to turn her into a sex object, making her easier to discredit. Governor Palin has even been referred to as Caribou Barbie. They try daily to chip away at her knowledge, her credibility, and her personal life. It doesn’t matter that she owned and ran a small business, raised a family, and against all odds took on her own Party to become the first female Governor of Alaska. It doesn’t matter that she has two years more executive experience than Barack Obama, and he is at the top of the Democrats’ ticket. She is a young and attractive conservative, and that doesn’t fit into the mold of what the elitist media have deemed acceptable in a female candidate for high office.
The mainstream media has always portrayed conservatives as uninformed and unimportant. Nowhere has media bias been more apparent than in its attempt to discredit Sarah Palin. They carry true prejudice against her. She came from modest means, did not go to an Ivy League college, and worst of all, she was pro-life. The Governor can truly speak to the working class. She is not one of them. However, she is one of us.
Marrying Obama
WHAT IT MEANS TO “MARRY” OBAMA
by Karen Hutto
For some Obama voters, I think this is their first political romance. They are in love with the idea of Obama being president, but really have no idea what that means. They like how he looks and what he says and it has made them fall head over heels in love with him. They look at Obama and think, “He will make a great president. He will make America look good, at least on the cover of GQ. He’s global. He wants to help people. What could possibly go wrong?”
Well, WE know what will go wrong. But they don’t!
For some reason, this little scenario came into my mind, a marriage allegory, if you will bear with me a moment…
WHAT IT MEANS TO “MARRY” OBAMA
Let’s pretend you are a young, wealthy, attractive, accomplished woman. You’ve earned a good education and hold a good job. You make good money. And, because your father was a good businessman, you also have a sizable trust fund. You are quite a catch. But you’ve never found “the guy” that you want to spend the rest of your life with. Then… along comes a tall, young, handsome man who has eyes for no one but you. Just like you, he’s well educated and holds a good job. And can you believe it, he’s never really dated anyone either. Soon, he’s taking you out for dinner. Then, oh my gosh, he’s inviting you to the opera. The theatre. He’s squiring you around to fancy downtown parties. He’s connected. He’s in all the right groups. Never mind that some of those groups seem a little… well, radical. He’s such a nice, nice guy. When he talks to you, he makes you feel beautiful. Secure. Calm. HAPPY. Everything is always just fine when you are with him. Sheesh, when was the last time a guy you dated made you feel like THAT?
You date for a long time. Every date is a party, a cozy dinner, a trip to the mountains, a baseball game, an art show — something fun and exciting. He’s always got something special for the two of you to do. He never seems to run out of money or worry about anything. He handles every social scene with grace and style — the perfect date!
But then nothing in your relationship has every really been a challenge. You’ve done things his way – his friends, his hangouts, his family. It’s all one smooth gala after another. You notice that, but say nothing.
Your mother notices, however, and speaks up. She’s been through a few romances in her day. She says he’s controlling and she doesn’t like his friends. She says, “Honey, don’t forget who you are. Take off the pink glasses. I don’t trust him.” But you say, “Mom, you’re wrong. He’s handsome. He’s wonderful. He loves me. And I love him!”
So… you decide to get married. Then… It doesn’t happen all at once, but rather gradually you notice that the party seems to have come to an end. No more fancy dates. No more compliments. No more romance. Suddenly, it’s nothing but work and more work. He wants a bigger house, fancier cars, a vacation home, European trips. He expects YOU to pay for all of them, because he’s busy working with his social connections. They will reap big rewards some day, he promises. You begrudgingly agree.
Then he demands you open up the trust fund accounts. After all, you’re the rich one. Suddenly, he’s not smooth. He’s not cool. He’s cold. He’s calculating. His friends take more and more of his time and they aren’t so friendly any more either. Allegations of illegal activity arise. He brushes them off. He brushes you off. He starts an organization of some sort and leaves you out of the details. He begins to take more and more money from your trust accounts. He goes out of town more and more, without you. He goes to parties, without you. He’s in the news, the social pages, the business pages. He’s surrounded by his friends, those radical types. But not you. You are not at his side. Then you begin to hear rumors of other women. LOTS of other women. All of them just as rich and beautiful as you. Or more so.
You confront and he gets angry. He demands more of your money. He demands you take on a second job. You think more work, more money, will help save your marriage. So… You give him what he wants. Days and weeks go by. But things don’t get better; they get worse.
Then, one day, he is gone. Your accounts are empty. You discover, to your horror, your name is not on the titles for the cars or the property deeds — things you thought you bought together. Things that were paid for with your wealth. But no. He has deceived you. Because you don’t own any of it. He’s gone and he has sold you out.
This is what happens, after you trusted him, believed in him, loved him? Divorce almost seems pointless. You have nothing. No wealth, no property, no security, no husband.
No dignity.
You are dumbstruck by your own stupidity. Suckered by a handsome face with a silver tongue. How could you have been so blind?

So, for all those love-struck Obama voters out there… He might be the perfect “date” but he will make a TERRIBLE husband!
